Oak + Steel

This is a natural and solid oak wood ring reinforced by surgical stainless steel and waterproof acrylic coating. Pictures show 8 and 5mm wide rings.

I will never forget the first time I worked with oak. I was still getting familiar with the wide array of wood types but I have worked with a bunch of exotic materials at that point since I thought those have the more interesting colors and patterns. I got an order for an oak ring and I even explained to my costumer that I have really unique woods, not understanding why he would choose a simple wood like oak. But, fortunately, he insisted, because its symbolism meant alot to him. I got a piece that looked like any other boring lumber I saw before, so I wasn't very excited but when I started to work with it I immediately fell in love with its sweet herby scent. And when I finished the ring my jaw dropped. It's become one of my personal favorites because of this experience.

Surgical stainless steel is a great choice for a wood ring core. It's lightweight, affordable, and its minimalist design showcases the natural beauty of the wood inlay. While it's not completely scratch-resistant, any scratches that do occur are hardly noticeable since there is minimal surface area that comes in contact with other surfaces. It's also technically hypoallergenic, but if you prefer an extra level of safety, ceramic is a great alternative. For a more sturdy and metal-focused design, tungsten is the one for you.
